Description
The Centre reappointed former IPS officer Ajit Doval as the National Security Adviser (NSA) On June 13. His position will last till the conclusion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's term, or until further orders.
About Ajit Doval
Ajit Doval (born January 20, 1945) is a former spymaster and India's current National Security Advisor. He was the chief of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Kerala cadre.
His Service And Tenure
He previously served as the IB's director from 2004 to 2005, following a decade as the head of its operations wing.
He spent one year as an undercover spy for the IB in Pakistan before becoming an officer at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad for six years. He spent the majority of his career as an International Bureau of Investigation spy.
His successful operations as a spy and intelligence chief include Operation Black Thunder 1988, the rescue of 46 Indian nationals in Iraq, the 2015 operation against Nagaland terrorists with the Indian army to disrupt terror organization PFI, and many more.
Prior to his appointment as NSA, he was the founder and director of the right-of-center think group Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF). It was established in December 2009.
About His Achievement
Mr. Doval, a former director of the Intelligence Bureau, is one of the Prime Minister's most trusted aides and has served as National Security Advisor since 2014. He was the first police officer to be honored with the Kirti Chakra, the second-highest peacetime gallantry award after the Ashok Chakra.
