Description
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)'s Faculty of Public Administration, School of Social Sciences (SOSS), has launched a postgraduate diploma program in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PGDDRRM). The deadline to apply for the July session of IGNOU is June 30.
The course is designed for one year of open distance learning; candidates will have a maximum of three years and a minimum of one year to complete it. The entire fee for the programme is Rs 7,400. Candidates should be aware that the PG diploma programmes are exclusively offered in English and Hindi.
The postgraduate diploma degree will give students with comprehensive understanding about natural and human-caused risks, disaster preparedness, mitigation, and rehabilitation, as well as hands-on training in various elements of disaster risk management.
Following NEP 2020, the programs will incorporate an internship component to help students improve their abilities and gain real-world experience and apply what they've learned in the classroom.
Eligibility
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline.
There are no age limit conditions.
Candidates can apply for this programme twice a year, during the IGNOU's July and January admission cycles, through the official website.
Aside from students seeking admission, the programs are also designed to meet the needs of military, paramilitary, police, home guards, civil defense personnel, NGO and government employees, primary health center functionaries, relief workers, social workers, environmentalists, and others.
Academicians, geologists, scientists, meteorologists, engineers, journalists, and officers from public and private sector organizations are also eligible for admittance.
