Description
The central government has approved Assam's plan to develop a new Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in the Kamrup district. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced "in-principle approval" from the Ministry of Education, with IIM Ahmedabad set to mentor the new college.
Strategic Location
With only one IIM in the Northeast region, IIM Kamrup's development is expected to have a substantial impact on education and industry in the area. The state government's proposal highlighted the potential for a management hub, which would help bordering states such as Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh.
Collaborative Efforts
The state government has agreed to provide the required land for the institute, demonstrating its commitment to promoting education and economic progress. IIM Ahmedabad has been tasked with creating a full project report in cooperation with the appropriate authorities.
