Description
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar have formed a cooperation to advance research in electronics warfare, AI-driven surveillance, power systems, and radar systems. DRDO has approved nine projects from the Electronics and Communication Systems (ECS) Cluster for IIT Bhubaneswar, with a further seven projects pending approval, totaling Rupees 18 crore in financing.

Professor Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, emphasized the significance of the relationship, saying it represents a transition from information generation to practical application, entrepreneurship, and the development of qualified people. He sees this collaboration as an opportunity to flourish in defense research and technology.
Research Focus
Professor S.R. Samantaray, Head of the School of Electrical Sciences at IIT, emphasized that the partnership is in line with the evolving needs of defence applications, contributing to the vision of 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat' (Self-reliant India). He believes that this relationship will strengthen defense research initiatives, promote sustainability, and benefit the national ecosystem.
