Every year, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) provides scholarships to deserving and qualified students. Some are in the form of reduced tuition fees, while others are direct benefit transfers to students' bank accounts.
Scholarships for exceptional students at IIT Delhi not only encourage students academically but also provide financial help. Donor-endowed scholarships supplement IIT Delhi's scholarship program and help a larger number of students achieve their academic goals.
List Of Scholarships And Eligibility
BTech and MSc students with a CGPA of 6 and a household income of up to Rs 4,50,000 per year are eligible for merit-based scholarships. These scholarships are offered to a maximum of 25% of students and include a tuition waiver and Rs 1,000 each month. An additional 10% of students qualifying the income condition receive a tuition waiver. All SC/ST/PwD students are exempt from paying tuition fees.
MDes, MTech, and MS(R) students receive a monthly teaching and research assistantship of Rs 12,400. Dual degree students in their fifth year with a CGPA of eight or higher are also eligible for these scholarships.
PhD students are offered a teaching/research assistantship that pays Rs 31,000 per month for the first two years and Rs 35,000 per month for the remaining two years of the program.
All PhD students are eligible for a grant of Rs 1,50,000 to attend a conference once during their program. Students who demonstrate research excellence are eligible for a second such award.
Merit And Means Undergraduate Scholarships
IIT Delhi provides merit cum means (MCM) scholarships to students having household incomes less than Rs 4,50,000 lakhs per annum (LPA) and a GPA of at least 6. However, given the high tuition costs of Rs 2,00,000 per annum (LPA), UG students at the Institute with family incomes beyond this level also require assistance.
Donor-supported merit cum means scholarships are offered to students who must pay the entire tuition cost and have a family income of less than Rs 9,00,000 per year. Students are selected based on their JEE Advanced rank, and their continued enrollment is contingent on maintaining a CGPA of at least 7 at the conclusion of each academic year. The scholarship of Rs 1,00,000 each year covers half of the tuition fee and is valid for just four years.
Other choices for second-year scholarships include selection based on academic and co-curricular performance, among others.
Scholarships For Masters Students
IIT Delhi provides two-year MSc programs in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, with admission through the Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM).
Donor-supported merit cum means that scholarships are offered to students whose families earn between Rs 5,00,000 and Rs 9,00,000 per year. Students are chosen at the time of admission based on their JAM rank, and continuation into the second year is reliant on achieving a CGPA of at least 7 in the first year. The annual scholarship of Rs 50,000 is only for two years.
