Description

Colin Munro, New Zealand's hard-hitting top-order batsman, has declared his retirement from international cricket after being overlooked for the 2018 T20 World Cup. The decision signals the end of an era for the powerful left-hander, who established himself as one of the most dangerous T20 batters in the game.

Munro's Impressive Career Statistics

Munro played one Test, 57 One-Day Internationals, and 65 Twenty20 Internationals for New Zealand, scoring 3,010 runs in total. However, it was in the shortest version of the game that Munro truly demonstrated his batting brilliance, earning him a reputation as a T20 expert.

Munro had an outstanding strike rate of 156.44 runs per T20I, demonstrating his ability to dismantle the opposition attack. The 37-year-old is still one of the few players to have scored more than 10,000 runs in all T20 leagues, which is an impressive record in and of itself.

Munro's Twenty20 Legacy

Munro was born in Durban, South Africa, and has had an outstanding T20 career, amassing 10,961 runs from 428 T20s at an average of 30.44 and a blazing strike rate of 141.25. His ability to score rapidly and put bowlers under intense duress made him a hot commodity in T20 leagues throughout the world.

Despite his retirement from international cricket, Munro is anticipated to continue playing in these lucrative T20 games, where his explosive batting style will likely enthral spectators around the world.

Records & Milestones

Munro's career is replete with impressive records and milestones. His 14-ball 50 against Sri Lanka at Eden Park in 2016 is still the fastest T20I fifty by a New Zealand batsman, and the fourth-quickest of all time. He also has the distinction of striking a 47-ball century against the West Indies in 2018, the quickest T20I century by a Kiwi at the time.

Furthermore, Munro became the first player to hit three T20I hundreds, establishing himself as one of the most productive batters in the game's shortest format.
