Description

The Indian Army's Kharga Corps, under the command of the Army's Western Command, successfully completed a three-day joint exercise with the Indian Air Force (IAF) at several locations in Punjab. The exercise sought to improve protocols and validate the use of attack helicopters in support of mechanized operations in developed terrain.

Exercise Gagan Strike II

The exercise, titled "Gagan Strike-II," included a variety of force multipliers such as Apache and ALH-WSI helicopters, Unarmed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and Indian Army special forces. The major goal was to confirm the use of these assets in support of ground offensive operations by strike corps, as well as live fire by helicopters as required by mechanized forces during offensive maneuvers.

Collaboration And Synergy

The latest exercise demonstrated a high level of synergy and cooperation between the Indian Army and the IAF. The emphasis was on rehearsing centralized and dispersed attack helicopter missions with other force multipliers in a dense air defense environment, as well as engaging planned and improvised targets on the battlefield.

Employment Of Aerial Assets

Ground force commanders used aerial assets, like as drones, to improve situational awareness and destroy mobile and stationary targets. The exercise enabled Western Command formations and units to carry out combined actions that seamlessly integrated all ground and aviation assets in order to achieve their goals.

Validation Of Operational Capabilities

The exercise validated the Indian Army and IAF's operational capabilities for conducting combined operations. It enabled the troops to perfect their systems and ensure flawless coordination among multiple parts, so improving their overall preparedness for future situations.

Commendation From Top Brass

Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, and the GOC Kharga Corps praised all ranks of the Kharga Corps, the Indian Air Force, and the Army Aviation for their professional excellence and collaboration in executing integrated operations.
