Description
Six schools in the national capital and nearby Noida got bomb threats on May 1 morning, causing panic, according to police officials.
Mother Mary School in Mayur Vihar, Delhi Public School in Dwarka, Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Delhi Public School in Vasant Kunj, Amity School in Saket, and Delhi Public School (DPS) in Noida Sector 30 all received bomb threats via email, according to officials.
All schools have been evacuated after local police were informed of the emails, according to Delhi Police authorities. A bomb detection team, bomb disposal squad, and fire department personnel have been dispatched to Delhi schools, and a search operation is currently underway, according to a police officer. According to Noida Police, lessons have been suspended at DPS, and a police force has been deployed.
"Taking immediate cognizance of the information, checking is being done around the school by the police force. Other necessary measures are also being taken," the Noida Police said in a brief statement.
More schools have said to have gotten similar threat mail, and an officer believes that one person was behind them all. Security authorities, including the Delhi Police Special Cell, are investigating the origins of the email.
