The academic council of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) approved a proposal on April 23 to establish 14 new merit-based scholarships and one gold award. Vice-Chancellor Professor Sudhir Kumar Jain chaired the council, which met with other members to examine various academic and research concerns at the university, as well as initiatives to improve overall performance and productivity. The BHU council established a project monitoring unit to better boost the academic and research ecology.
The University received numerous donations to establish scholarships through the Pratidana project. The council also authorized the Akshaibar and Jogeshwari Giri Gold Medals, which will be handed to the second-year MBA student with the highest CGPA. This will go into effect for the academic year 2023-24.
“The unit will work to resolve issues that have the potential of adversely affecting the teaching-learning activities”, said Professor Jain. The Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences will gradually expand its scope of functioning.
