The Mangeshkar family established the prize in commemoration of the late great singer Lata Mangeshkar, who died on February 6, 2022. The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award, also known as the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar, is a renowned prize bestowed by the Mangeshkar family and trust in remembrance of the legendary Indian vocalist Lata Mangeshkar. The award honors those who have made groundbreaking contributions to the nation, its people, and society. It is held on April 24, the memorial day of Lata Mangeshkar's father, theatre-music veteran Deenanath Mangeshkar.

About Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan, born on October 11, 1942, is a legendary Indian actor, film producer, and television host. He first gained popularity in the early 1970s for his roles in films such as “Zanjeer” (1973) and “Sholay” (1975).
Bachchan has appeared in over 200 films throughout his career, winning numerous accolades, including four National Film Awards and fifteen Filmfare Awards.
In 1984, he entered politics and was elected as a member of Parliament from Allahabad. However, he resigned after three years. Bachchan has also been actively involved in social causes and is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
In 2015, he was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award.
At the age of 81, Bachchan continues to be a prominent figure in the Indian entertainment industry.
