The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a circular inviting principals of its associated schools to encourage student participation in the upcoming 18th World Robot Olympiad (WRO) India 2024.
The WRO India 2024 is being organized by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in partnership with the India STEM Foundation.
The subject for this year's WRO India is 'Earth Allies,' which encourages robotic solutions for people, nature, and the environment. The event's goal is to help participants develop their inventiveness, problem-solving skills, teamwork, critical thinking, entrepreneurial abilities, and scientific temperament.
Registration for Level 1 of the Virtual Championship Events in the 'Future Innovators' Category is now open. The National Championship is set to take place in August 2024 in Delhi-NCR, with the winners qualifying for the WRO 2024 International Championship in Turkey in November 2024.
CBSE schools have been advised that entering one team for the 'Future Innovators' Category is free of charge. Schools can use any technology they want for this category.
Registration deadlines for Level 1 events are May 6 and June 2, 2024. The submission period for Event 3 is May 3–7, 2024, while Event 4 is June 3–9. The results of Event 3 will be announced on May 30, 2024, while Event 4 will be released on June 17.
The Level 1 events are virtual, with students developing unique, intelligent robotics solutions based on the season's topic. On competition day, participants will submit their projects and robot models to the judges.
The age ranges for participation include elementary (8-12 years), junior (11-15 years), and senior (14-19 years). Schools are invited to share this information with their pupils and encourage them to engage willingly in the event to improve their problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
