Axis Capital has appointed Atul Mehra as its new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer. Mehra will lead Axis Capital's investment banking and institutional equities activities.

Atul Mehra is an experienced dealmaker with over 30 years of experience in this industry. He was previously the Joint MD of JM Financial.

Other Key Appointments

• In addition to Mehra, Axis Capital has appointed-

• Parag Gude has been appointed COO of Institutional Equities, while Dhaval Desai is the Head of Cash Equities.

Mehra's appointment follows the exits of-

• Salil Pitale is the current MD and co-CEO of Axis Capital

• Chirag Negandhi, the former co-CEO, joined JM Financial in December.

Regulatory Approvals

• The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the initial public offering (IPO) of two firms: Kross and Saraswati Saree Depot.

• However, SEBI returned the draft IPO documents for Garuda Construction and Engineering and Polymatech Electronics in late March.
