Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history by being the first non-Bhutanese to receive Bhutan's highest civilian award, the 'Order of the Druk Gyalpo'. During his two-day state visit to Thimphu, Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck bestowed upon him this high honour. The 'Order of the Druk Gyalpo' is Bhutan's highest honor, awarded for lifetime achievement. Only four outstanding individuals have earned this prize since its inception.
