The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) plans to update the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) syllabus for Classes 3 and 6. The new academic structure will come into effect in the upcoming academic year 2024-25. The redesigned syllabus will follow the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE).
NCERT reportedly addressed a letter to CBSE informing them of the modifications to the academic framework. The letter added that, in addition to the syllabus, the council will provide recommendations for Class 3 and a syllabus bridge programme for Class 6 to CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). The bridge course is designed to help students adapt comfortably to new pedagogical ideas.
The initiative also focuses on Arts, Physical Education, Vocational Education, and The World Around Us for third-graders. The council intends to provide activity books and textbooks with new perspectives in line with NCF-SE 2023.

NCERT's New Syllabus 2024: Revised Timetable For Schools
According to the most recent letter, the NCERT has asked CBSE to notify school principals, teachers, and parents of the revisions to the timetable and time allocation for Class 3 and 6 students. The council plans to develop a strategy to engage young students in activity-based learning at the start of the academic year 2024-25.
In addition, NCERT noted that CBSE's early action on this subject, in partnership with KVS and NVS, would be greatly welcomed. The council also emphasized the collaborative efforts of CBSE, KVS, and NVS under the guidance of the school education department, syllabus and teaching-learning material committee, and curricular framework monitoring committee to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) at the school level.
