Description
Following his resounding victory in the presidential election, Asif Ali Zardari took oath of office as Pakistan's 14th president. The oath was administered at the Presidential Palace, Aiwan-e-Sadr, by Pakistan's Chief Justice, Qazi Faez Isa. Zardari followed Dr. Arif Alvi, who served an additional five months after finishing his five-year tenure in September last year.

Election Victory
Zardari received 411 votes to his opponent's 181, winning the president.
He earned votes from all electoral colleges, including the legislature and provincial assemblies.
Vote Breakdown
Zardari received 255 votes during the joint session of parliament.
Votes came from several provinces: 43 from Punjab, 8 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 47 from Balochistan, and 58 from Sindh.
This is Zardari's second term as President, making him the only civilian to occupy the position twice in Pakistani history.
