About Garbhini-GA2
It is the first artificial intelligence (AI) model designed specifically for India that can accurately predict the age of a foetus in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
It was developed by experts from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) in Faridabad.
It is a member of an interdisciplinary group for advanced research on birth outcomes known as the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) India Initiative (GARBH-Ini) program.
It is the first late-trimester GA estimate model created and verified with Indian population data.
The Garbhini-GA2 accurately determines the foetal age, reducing error by nearly threefold.
Accurate 'Gestational Age' (GA) is required for proper treatment of pregnant women and identifying exact delivery dates.
Once confirmed in pan-India cohorts, Garbhini-GA2 has the potential to be widely deployed in clinics across the country, contributing to better maternal and infant healthcare outcomes and lower death rates.
