About The Vaitarna River
It is one of the west flowing rivers in the area north of Mumbai and south of the Tapi River.
It is named after the Trimbakeshwar Hills in Maharashtra's Nasik district.
During the months of June through October, the South West monsoon brings the majority of the rain.
This time period accounts for nearly 98% of the basin's annual rainfall.
Tributaries
The major tributaries are Pinjal, Ganjai, Surya, Daharji, and Tansa.
The entire catchment area of the Vaitarna basin is located in Maharashtra's Thane and Nasik districts.
It drains an area in 2019.
