"Sallekhna" is a profound Jain practice in which people voluntarily abstain from food and liquids, fasting until death, as a means of spiritual purification. Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj practised'sallekhna' for the past three days, culminating in his Samadhi at Chandragiri Teerth.

Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj was born in Sadalga, Karnataka, on October 10, 1946. His early life was characterized by a strong spiritual bent, which laid the groundwork for his remarkable journey.

Entry Into The Monastic Order

Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Maharaj began a pivotal chapter in his life at the age of 22 in 1968, when he was initiated into the revered order of Digambara monks. The renowned Acharya Gyansagar Ji Maharaj guided his spiritual journey.
