Description
At its most recent board meeting, ICICI Bank announced Mr. Pradeep Kumar Sinha's appointment as Non-Executive Part-time Chairman. This decision follows the retirement of the present Chairman, Mr. G. C. Chaturvedi, on June 30, 2024.
Appointment At ICICI Bank
Approved as an Additional (Independent) Director for a five-year term, beginning immediately and subject to shareholder approval.
Mr. G. C. Chaturvedi will be succeeded as Non-Executive Part-time Chairman on July 1, 2024, or when the RBI approves it.
Will hold this position until February 16, 2029, filling the vacancy left by Mr. Chaturvedi's retirement.
Background
Mr. Pradeep Kumar Sinha has a distinguished four-decade career in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He has a Master's degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and an M.Phil. in Social Sciences. Throughout his career, he has held a number of critical posts, including more than four years as Cabinet Secretary, India's highest-ranking civil servant. He has substantial expertise in government departments, particularly in the power and oil and gas industries.
The Professional Journey
He joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1977 after receiving his Masters in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics.
St. Stephens College in Delhi awarded me an honours degree in economics.
In 1991, he earned an M.Phil. in Social Sciences and served as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford in 1999.
I attended prestigious programs at Stanford University on 'Mergers and Acquisitions' and Harvard University on 'Leaders in Development'.
Government Service
Prior to joining the Government of India, I worked in a variety of roles in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
For around 15 years, he held key positions in the Power and Oil & Gas Ministries.
Climbed to the post of Cabinet Secretary, where he oversaw the operation of the civil services for more than four years.
Retired from the Prime Minister's Office in March 2021, following 44 years of loyal service to the country.
