IIT Madras now offers an online AI-based English learning platform to its students, which will assist them improve their communication abilities.
The central library at IIT Madras has subscribed to Lanquill, an online language lab that uses AI to provide complete English study. Students can gain access to more than 500 hours of learning, including self-paced tutorials and multimedia content, to help them enhance their comprehension of English grammar in their own language.
“Communication in English is important for all, be it technical paper writing, quizzes, semester exams, internship interviews, project reports, placement interviews and general interaction with peers. The AI-inspired LANQUILL tool is suitable for all levels of learners. It helps students to express ideas clearly in an academic and professional format. And real-time speech analyzer helps improve your accent and pronunciation and also grammar checker to help explore all aspects of your writing, including sentence structure, sentence length, writing style, punctuation, voice, and much more,” IIT Madras said.

Those who are interested in undergoing official certification, there are seven levels that can be completed in a self-paced manner:

Adaptive Assessments
To gain access to the site, IIT Madras students must fill out a Google doc form stating their interest, which will allow the Librarian to issue an ID for them. The link will be available on the official website of IIT Madras' 'BeHappy initiative' (behappy.iitm.ac.in/communication-skills.html).
After registering and logging in, students will be able to see the 'My language LAB dashboard', which includes features for hearing, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and quizzes.
