Description
The government has enabled Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) to operate Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana.
About The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras
- These are part of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana, which was launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers in November 2008.
Objective
To supply high-quality medicines at cheap prices to all, particularly the poor, in order to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare costs.
These Kendras offer generic pharmaceuticals that are less priced yet have the same quality and efficacy as expensive branded drugs.
All medicinal drugs are offered at Jan Aushadhi Stores.
Jan Aushadhi stores also sell related medical supplies that are usually found in pharmacy shops, which helps to increase the viability of the store.
The Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) was established under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India, with the assistance of all CPSUs to coordinate the purchase, supply, and marketing of generic pharmaceuticals via the PMBKs.
Who Can Open a Jan Aushadhi Kendra?
The new Jan Aushadhi Kendra accepts applications from state governments, respected NGOs, trusts, private hospitals, philanthropic institutions, doctors, unemployed pharmacists, and individual entrepreneurs.
The applicants must employ one B Pharma / D Pharma degree holder as a Pharmacist in their proposed store.
