The Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has taken a significant step towards improving public service delivery and accelerating the implementation of various schemes by launching the "Ungalai Thedi, Ungal Ooril" (Bringing Services to Your Doorstep) scheme. This innovative initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the government and the general public by ensuring that the benefits of various programs reach the grassroots level.
Ungalai Thedi And Ungal Ooril Scheme Overview
"Ungalai Thedi, Ungal Ooril" is intended to improve the efficiency and transparency of service delivery in the state. Collectors and senior district officials are required by this scheme to spend 24 hours in one taluk on the fourth Wednesday of each month. This time will be used to review the operation of various projects, inspect infrastructure, and engage directly with the public to better understand their needs and concerns.
Ungalai Thedi And Ungal Ooril Scheme Implementation Strategy
The scheme's guidelines outline a structured approach for the officials' visits.
Morning Inspections- The forenoon will be spent inspecting primary health care facilities, ration shops, cooperative societies, schools, and government offices, among other things, with officials divided into teams to cover the most ground.
Public Interaction- A significant window from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm is set aside for interactions with the public, allowing them to present their representations and grievances.
Pre-Visit Preparations- A week before the scheduled visit, a team of officials from various departments will be dispatched to all firkas in the taluk to solicit public feedback, ensuring that the community's concerns are heard and addressed.
Evening Schedule- After 6:00 pm, the focus shifts to facilities operated by the Social Welfare Department, bus stops, and public restrooms, among others.
The following morning, officials will conduct village inspections to assess basic civic amenities and the implementation of the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme before returning to headquarters.
Ensure Coverage And Publicity
Collectors are tasked with creating an annual calendar to ensure the scheme's success and uniform coverage across districts. Furthermore, appropriate publicity measures must be implemented to maximize public participation, allowing individuals to air their grievances and receive timely resolution.
