The 14th annual All India Police Commando Competition (AIPCC) began on January 22, 2024, at the Greyhounds Training Centre in Kapuluppada, Visakhapatnam. This weeklong tournament features elite commando troops from 16 different states.
Inauguration & Dignitaries
Commissioner A. Ravi Shankar opened the event, underlining its importance in developing inter-state collaboration and demonstrating the capabilities of India's premier commando forces. R.K. Meena, the Additional Director General of Greyhounds, attended the event and added to its stature.
Participating States And Forces
The challenge has attracted elite commando units from all throughout the country. Notable participants include the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, the C-60 of Maharashtra, and paramilitary forces including the BSF, CRPF, Assam Rifles, ITBP, RPF, SSB, and CISF. The broad representation guarantees a competition of unprecedented intensity and talent.
Competition Format
The competition is divided into five phases, each designed to test the contestants' ability, endurance, and teamwork. With teams of 13-15 commandos, the event attempts to test the commandos' ability. The competition lasts a week and provides a complete examination of the contestants' tactical knowledge and physical prowess.
Judging Criteria And Expert Panel
A respected panel of Intelligence Bureau (IB) judges will evaluate the commandos throughout the tournament. Their expertise ensures a fair and meticulous assessment of the participants, lending credibility to the event. The judging criteria include strategic thought, execution perfection, and adaptability to different conditions.
State Team Representation
The state team, a critical component of the sport, is made up of members from the Greyhounds and Octopus units. Their performance not only contributes to individual glory, but it also improves their respective states' overall status in competition.
