In a remarkable milestone, the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) has announced that building of a large mosque in Ayodhya will begin this May. The mosque, named "Masjid Muhammed bin Abdullah" after Prophet Muhammad, seeks to promote harmony and goodwill among people across religious lines. The endeavor comes on the same day that Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the Ram Temple's dedication ceremony.
Construction Timeline
Haji Arfat Shaikh, a senior official of the IICF, indicated that the construction will take three to four years. The grandiose initiative aims to transform the cityscape of Ayodhya and serve as a symbol of communal unity.
Crowdfunding For Mosque
To fund the construction, the IICF is considering launching a crowdsourcing website. This method mirrors a larger outreach plan that allows people from many backgrounds to contribute to the construction of a shared cultural space.
A Message Of Unity
Shaikh underscored the foundation's dedication to eliminating hatred and spreading love among people. Regardless of personal sentiments about the Supreme Court's 1992 decision to demolish the Babri Masjid, the IICF hopes to bring communities together through the construction of "Masjid Muhammed bin Abdullah."
Supreme Court Verdict
In 2019, the Supreme Court of India pronounced the Babri Masjid's demolition to be unconstitutional. While accepting the presence of a non-Islamic structure beneath the mosque, the court permitted the construction of a temple on the contested site and set aside a separate parcel of ground for the Muslim community to build a mosque.
Funding Approach And Delays
Contrary to usual fundraising techniques, the IICF's president, Zufar Ahmad Faruqi, indicated that the foundation has not aggressively solicited money. He highlighted that there was no public push for fundraising. The IICF's secretary, Athar Hussain, ascribed the delay in mosque building on the incorporation of more traditional aspects into the design.
Holistic Development
Beyond the mosque, the IICF intends to build a 500-bed hospital in the site. This comprehensive approach demonstrates the foundation's dedication to contributing to the general well-being of the community.
Presence Of Dignitaries
The news coincides with the travel of several celebrities, including actors and cricketers, to Ayodhya for the Ram Temple's consecration event. This combination of events emphasizes the importance of Ayodhya as a cultural and spiritual center.
