Description
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will shortly sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), according to Aniket S Talati, President of ICAI, who stated this at a press conference on January 22.
Speaking on the engagement with CBSE, Talati stated that the ICAI will sign an MoU with CBSE on February 8. Through this collaboration, the ICAI will give career advice in CBSE schools to educate students about the Chartered Accountancy course and potential job chances after completing this professional course. The ICAI will also create course content for CBSE-affiliated institutions in the form of modules and videos.
This declaration was made during the ICAI's National Education Summit on Commerce and Accountancy (NES-CA), which takes place in New Delhi on January 22 and 23.
ICAI also introduced study material "Aarambh: A Step Towards Financial Independence" during the inaugural session of NES-CA 2024 to help students foster financial resilience and improve their decision-making abilities. This study material includes modules on 'Fundamentals of Financial Planning', "Banking and Credit", 'Understanding Financial Statements', 'Basics of Taxation', 'Investment Planning', and 'Retirement Planning'.
During the two-day event, the ICAI will also sign memoranda of understanding with eleven colleges. As part of the agreement, ICAI will assist universities and colleges in a variety of areas, including the creation of Commerce syllabi, content development, online and recorded lectures, and faculty development programs.
Meanwhile, Professor Deepak Kumar Srivastava appreciated the institute for playing “a crucial role in promoting financial transparency, accountability, and good governance”. He further stated that UGC is closely working with Higher Educational Institutes (HEIs) and recently issued the guidelines to formulate the premise for integrating skilling into higher education at all levels and for introducing short-term industry-relevant courses (certificate courses) in the Higher Educational Institutes (HEIs) to bridge the skill gap. “We need to prepare an ecosystem among accounting professionals who are equipped with multiple skills matching with the requirements of global job market,” he added.
