Gujarat University held its 72nd Annual Convocation ceremony on January 19, 2024, in the presence of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel. More than 50,000 students earned degrees in a variety of courses. The Gujarat Chief Minister praised the youth and wished them well in the future.
Furthermore, he referred to the Amrit Mahotsav as a unique opportunity to commemorate the nation's entry into the Amrit period and the 75th anniversary of Gujarat University's founding. In his speech, Chief Minister Patel mentioned the Prime Minister's emphasis on 'Youth Power' as one of the Four Pillars for Building a Developed India. He also urged students in the north to help build a 'Developed India' by prioritizing the nation's ideals.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed the students on a variety of topics, including research, development, democracy, and governance. He considered himself fortunate to have inaugurated the Atal Kalam Research Centre at the university. He predicted that the center would become the 'nerve centre and epicenter of change' in the country's research and development landscape.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar stated that industry leaders must support educational institutions in the fields of research and development to ensure that students are familiar with today's disruptive technologies. He emphasized India's developing technology, quantum computing mission, and green hydrogen, which are currently only available in a few countries. He also encouraged the students to conduct additional research on these topics and take advantage of opportunities in relevant fields.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar discussed his role as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. He did not want the temple of democracy to be tarnished in a way that would call into question those in power. Jagdeep emphasized that students with discerning minds can make a significant contribution to democratic governance.
