Description
The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has announced that midterms for students in class 8 and 9 will be cancelled beginning with the 2024 academic year. According to the official notification, all registered schools under the Nagaland Board of School Education must be aware that mid-term examinations for class 8 and 9 will be discontinued beginning in the academic year 2024. Students can visit the official website.
The board has already held phase 1 and 2 exams for class 8 and 9 students in September and December 2023. The notification also states that the phase-I and phase-Il examinations will be held on the dates specified in the academic calendar 2024. The decision to cancel the midterm was made in order to increase teaching days and shift secondary education to a semester-structured pattern in accordance with the NEP 2020.
To be promoted to the next class, students must score the minimum qualifying marks in aggregate for both the phase 1 and phase 2 exams. The board stated that all institutions are required to enter students' marks in the Pupil Cumulative Record (PCR) as Phase 1 marks in the first evaluation column, Phase 2 marks in the second evaluation column, and Phases 1 and 2 marks combined in the third evaluation column.

According to data available, approximately 72 schools in the state have yet to upload the final results of class 8 and 9 students. As a result, these schools have been directed to upload their results to the official portal by January 20, 2024.
