The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar is currently accepting applications for its master's program in Cognitive Science. Interested candidates must register for the entrance exam online. To shortlist candidates for the interview stage, an online written examination will be administered. According to an institute statement, IIT Gandhinagar has established a cutting-edge Department of Cognitive and Brain Sciences to conduct high-quality cognitive science research. It was the first IIT to launch an MSc (Cognitive Science) program in 2013 and a PhD program in Cognitive Science in 2010.
According to the institute, the program has an innovative curriculum that includes core courses in the interdisciplinary fields of psychology, philosophy, computation, and neuroscience.
The program is designed to immerse students in research by providing integrated laboratory courses that cover research methodologies and experimental techniques such as behavioral studies, physiological measurements, eye tracking, motion tracking, brain stimulation, brain mapping with EEG, and functional MRI.
The MSc programme is distinguished by a two-month summer internship that students pursue at various top Indian institutes such as NIMHANS, Bengaluru, IIT Delhi, IIT Mandi, IIIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, and abroad with competitive fellowships such as the Shastri Indo-Canadian Fellowship, DAAD Exchange Fellowship, Computation and Cognition Tübingen Summer Internship, Radboud Gateway Fellowship, Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, and others.
For financial support, eligible candidates admitted to the MSc Cognitive Science programme can apply for the ‘On-Campus Employment Opportunities Programme’. The institute also encourages MSc Cognitive Science students to present their research findings at national and international conferences by offering travel scholarships of up to Rupees 60,000.
