Description

Due to dense fog and severe cold weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh, numerous districts have announced winter vacations and alternative school schedules. Schools in the UP districts of Banaras and Firozabad have declared winter holidays, while schools in Kashi will stay closed for students in class 1 through 8 until January 6, 2024. Firozabad's schools will be shuttered until January 14, 2024.

Instead of declaring a vacation, many schools in the state have turned to online sessions. Students and parents are encouraged to contact school administrations for regular updates on school resumption.

The weather department has issued dense fog warnings for northern states. The states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, North Rajasthan, and North Madhya Pradesh have received a warning from the department. Citizens are encouraged to drive cautiously and to use fog lights.
