The University of Delhi recently announced that students who are unable to complete one final paper despite using all available resources will be given 10 grace marks. The provision also applies to students whose graduation dates have been set for 2021-22 and 2022-23 (at the start of COVID-19). It also includes students who appeared in the centennial chance, with a maximum of four papers allowed.
As per PTI, "If a student has not been able to complete his/her degree because they flunked a single paper, the Delhi University will grant 10 additional marks to such students to help them pass the exam and obtain their degree," says a DU official.
Who Will Get The Grace Marks?
It should be noted that only students who have failed to pass a single paper despite attempting every possible exceptional opportunity will receive the extra ten marks. The representative stated that this is a one-time offer intended to assist students who are having difficulty finishing their degrees.
MPhil students, as well as undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students, are subject to the order. The Executive Council, the university's highest decision-making body, approved it to assist students who faced unexpected challenges during the pandemic.
DU To Establish A Committee For Smooth Procedure
The institution is considering forming a committee of academic advisers, instructors, and administrators to streamline the process. When evaluating students' requests for grace marks, this committee will consider variables such as difficulties with distance learning, limited access to resources, or health concerns.
Students who are unable to pass the single paper must provide a compelling reason, and the committee will decide each case on an individual basis. Furthermore, the committee may decide to set up a special chance exam to assist qualified students in completing their degrees.
