According to Coursera, the Google and IIM-Ahmedabad Leadership Course will be the most popular in India in 2023

According to Coursera data, one of the most popular areas of study among Indians in 2023 will be GenAI content, with searches increasing fourfold from the previous year. The online learning platform examined data from more than 22.2 million registered learners in India and discovered that GenAI content and IIM Ahmedabad's Leadership Skills courses were the most popular this year in India.

As per Coursera, approximately every three minutes during the year, Indian learners enrolled in GenAI content on Coursera. To meet this demand, leading global university and industry educators launched 35+ genAI courses or projects on Coursera, resulting in 196,000 enrollments throughout the country. The course "Generative AI for Everyone" by AI pioneer Andrew Ng is a standout in this domain. Within six weeks of its launch, it had become the fastest-growing course in 2023, with the second highest enrollment from Indian students.

After GenAI, the second most popular course was IIM Ahmedabad's Leadership Skills, which covered topics like influence, authority, power dynamics, stress management, and Mahabharata lessons.

There has also been an increase in courses that are part of entry-level professional certificates, which do not require any prior knowledge or a college degree and teach the skills required for entry-level roles. These programs include 50% of the top courses in India, such as Google's Foundations - Data, Data, Everywhere, and Foundations of Project Management.        

   Google hosted five of the most popular courses in India in 2023 - Foundations-  Data, Data, Everywhere, Crash Course on Python, Foundations of Digital Marketing and E-commerce, Ask Questions to Make Data-Driven Decisions, and Foundations of Project Management — and IIM Ahmedabad hosted two (Leadership Skills and Pre-MBA Statistics).

Other popular courses included Financial Markets from Yale University, 'Supervised Machine Learning - Regression and Classification' from Stanford University, and DeepLearning. DeepLearning's AI and 'AI For Everyone'.AI.
