Description
The Indian Institute of Technology, (IIT Guwahati), has launched a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence online. The BSc (Honours) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program started classes in October 2023.
Eligibility
IIT Guwahati removed the upper age limit for this program.
Any candidate who had Mathematics in class 12, regardless of stream (Science, Commerce, or Humanities), if mathematics was a composite subject.
JEE Mains score is not compulsory but those candidates eligible and registered for JEE Advanced (in any year) will get direct admission, while those without can complete an online course and gain entry based on their performance.
Certification
This new program will also offer a variety of entry and exit points. If a candidate leaves the program after the first year, they will receive an Advanced Certificate as part of the program. If they leave after the second year, they will receive a diploma, a regular BSc degree after the third year, and a complete BSc honours degree after four years.
Internships And Placements
Candidates will also be encouraged to gain experience through internships, and the institute will offer a campus immersion program for qualified candidates.
“One big benefit that IIT Guwahati is adding to this programme is that candidates have a total of eight years to complete this degree. Also, all the components of this course will be online, and students need not worry about travelling or other issues,” IIT Guwahati director, Parameswar K. Iyer said.
