Description

UVAi-Youth for Unnati and Vikas with AI," a joint project of the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Government of India, and Intel India, is set to take center stage at the upcoming Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit. This ground-breaking program, designed to teach young people crucial AI skills, is attracting attention for its unique approach and commitment to developing a future-ready workforce.

Empowering Youth With AI Skills

YUVAi is a game-changing program that aims to increase students' understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) from grades 8 to 12. The program's major purpose is to provide these students with critical AI abilities, allowing them to become human-centric AI designers and users. YUVAi serves as a beacon, guiding the next generation of AI users toward responsible and beneficial use of AI to address social concerns.

Key YUVAi Program Updates And Features

  • Progressive Phases

To ensure maximum student participation, YUVAi functions in three distinct phases that are deployed throughout numerous cohorts. The program educates students to a variety of societal concerns while also directing their AI knowledge toward solving real-world problems.

  • Cohort 1's Success

YUVAi received an incredible response in its initial cohort, with over 8,500 students registering. There were online orientation classes where students and teachers alike learned about key AI ideas. Following that, students submitted unique AI-based concepts within the program's eight core themes. They are as follows:

  • Agriculture (Krishi)

  • Healthcare (Aarogya)

  • Education (Shiksha)

  • Environment & Clean Energy (Paryavaran)

  • Transportation (Parivahan)

  • Rural Development (Grameen Vikas)

  • Smart Cities

  • Law & Justice (Vidhi aur Nyaay)

  • Idea Evaluation And Selection

Over 750 student contributions were received during Phase 1. The top 200 AI-based ideas were shortlisted in Phase 2. The chosen students then received online deep dive AI training and mentorship sessions from certified Intel AI coaches and specialists, allowing them to improve their solutions. Following that, these students presented their updated AI projects for Phase 3 review.

  • Face-To-Face Rapid Modeling Workshop

The top 50 students took part in a four-day face-to-face fast modeling session during Phase 3. This immersive experience featured one-on-one mentoring, apprenticeship, and advice from industry professionals as they refined their designs into prototypes. A diverse jury panel conducted an on-the-spot project presentation, shortlisting the top ten students.

YUVAi At GPAI Summit

With its top ten finalists demonstrating their AI-based social impact projects, YUVAi is poised to make a huge impact at the GPAI Summit. As the global event unfolds, YUVAi hopes to encourage policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to work together to shape a future in which AI is more than just a tool but a force for good. The presence of YUVAi at the GPAI Summit marks an important step in the process toward developing a generation of responsible and innovative AI leaders.
