The Indian government plans to accept bids for 20 important mineral blocks, including lithium and graphite, within the next two weeks, in a crucial step toward realizing its energy transition ambitions. Furthermore, the foundation in 2019 of Khanij Bidesh India Ltd., a joint venture combining three government-owned enterprises, demonstrates India's commitment to secure vital mineral assets globally, with a particular focus on Australia and South America.

In a sign of the importance of domestic resource development, India imported lithium worth Rs 23,171 crore in FY23, up from Rs 13,673.15 crore in FY22.
