About Kali Tiger Reserve
Location
The Kali Tiger Reserve, formerly known as the Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve, is located in the central region of Karnataka's Uttara Kannada (North Canara) district.
Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary and Anshi National Park are two of the region's most important protected areas. They are adjacent to one another and form a single protected area in the biologically fragile Western Ghats.
River
- The Kali River runs through the tiger reserve, hence the name.
Vegetation
- Forests are mostly moist deciduous and semi-evergreen, with exceptional sections of evergreen woods in the far west.
Flora
- The intricate floral tapestry includes teak, silver oak, Malabar tamrind, jamba, lantana, bamboo, and shrubbery.
Fauna
- The Asiatic elephant, tiger, leopard, gaur, chevrotain, spotted deer, barking deer, sloth bear, dhole, Malabar civet, and giant civet are prominent species.
