Professor Soumyo Mukherji has been named as the next Director of the BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus

Profesor Soumyo Mukherji has been appointed as the director of BITS Pilani's Hyderabad campus for a five-year term. Professor G Sundar will hand over charge to him. Mukherjee is currently the Madhuri Sinha Chair Professor in Biomedical Engineering at IIT Bombay's Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering. He is also a member of the Centre for Research in Nanotechnology and Sciences, as well as the Centre of Excellence in Nanoelectronics.

Mukherji has also held numerous administrative positions at IIT Bombay. He was Dean of Student Affairs from 2015 to 2019, as well as the Director of the Centre for Research in Nanotechnology and Science and the Director of the Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility from 2010 to 2013.

Professor Mukherji obtained his PhD from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in the United States. He completed his BTech in Instrumentation Engineering at IIT Kharagpur and his MS at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was conferred with a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (FNAE) and a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of India (FNASc).
