The National Medical Commission (NMC) is getting ready to launch its "one nation, one registration platform" for doctors throughout India.
About The One Nation, One Registration Platform
In the following six months, the NMC will launch a patch pilot of the National Medical Register (NMR), in which doctors will be assigned a unique identity number.
Doctors can also seek for a license to practice in any state, regardless of where they reside.
Earlier this year, the commission published a gazette notification titled "Registration of Medical Practitioners and Licence to Practice Medicine Regulations, "
The goal is to provide undergraduate students on the NMR a masked ID, and based on when they finish their course, the ID will be unmasked and assigned.
This ID can be used to update any additional qualifications, and all State registers for work licenses in any area of the country will be linked here.
Aim
To remove duplication and red tape and give the public access to information on every physician operating in India.
