Description
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi held its 11th convocation ceremony on October 16, with 565 students (426 men and 139 women) and 60 PhDs graduating.
The number of female students graduating from IIT Mandi has increased. This year, 52 girls from the undergraduate program, 66 from the postgraduate and master's programs, and 14 from the PhD program graduated from IIT Mandi, exceeding prior years' statistics.

According to the data, the number of female students graduating this year is less than the number of male students in every stream except MA, where 7 male and 8 female students will graduate. In BTech, the gender difference is enormous, with 59 female students graduating compared to 185 male students.
In PhD programs, 43 male students graduate compared to 14 female students; in MTech programs, 18 female students graduate compared to 94 male students; and in MSc programs, 38 female students graduate compared to 86 male students.
In I-PhD and dual degree programs, there are no female students, and just two female students graduate from MS programs. This year, a total of 112 MTech degrees are being awarded:

A total of 125 MSc degrees are being conferred, with 44 granted in Applied Mathematics, 45 in Chemistry, and 35 in Physics. Likewise, 244 BTech degrees have been conferred.

Aditya Sarkar of the BTech Electrical Engineering (2023 batch) received the President of India gold medal, Pritish Chugh of the same batch received the Director's gold medal, and Sudhanshu Gangawar of the MTech Mechanical Engineering with Specialization in Energy Systems received the Institute's gold medal.
“In the academic year 2022-2023, IIT-Mandi has published more than 400 journal papers and received 83 projects with a total grant of Rs 21.28 crore. Along with this, IIT Mandi is currently carrying out 158 research projects worth Rs 87 crore. With this, In the next five years, we have planned to increase the faculty strength to 350+ from the current 187, and the student strength to over 5000 from the current 2800 (approx). In the coming years, the institute’s focus will be to encourage faculty members and research scholars to publish impactful research works that are at par with the best universities across the world to solve real-life problems that will impact the lives of the people around us,” Professor Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi said.
