Description
On October 11, 2023, the UN International Day of the Girl Child, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education joined a UNICEF-organized online activity to celebrate the attainment of one million certifications in its Passport to Earning (P2E) program.
Empowerment of Indian Youth
UNICEF's Passport to Earning (P2E) programme, a global learning to earn initiative, has successfully trained and certified more than one million youth in India. These certifications cover essential skills in financial literacy and digital productivity, preparing them for the workforce and their future lives. In particular, 62% of the beneficiaries are adolescent girls and young women.
Support for National Educational Policy
In line with India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, P2E offers free access to certified courses on digital productivity, financial literacy, employability skills and other skills required for jobs. It caters to different learning preferences, including online, hybrid and offline modes.
A Vision for the Future
The P2E digital learning platform aims to equip five million youth aged 14-29 in India with long-term sustainable skills by 2024 and connect them to job opportunities, self-employment and entrepreneurship to achieve financial independence .
UNICEF's Commitment
UNICEF's belief in empowering girls and young women through skills and economic opportunity. The implementation of the P2E program to train one million youth, the majority of whom are young women, supports the Government of India's vision of 'Nari Shakti' (women's power) and contributes to the achievement of the Agenda 2030 goals.
