Description

The Gujarat State Government has announced changes to class 10 and 12 board exams commencing with the academic year 2023-24. The changes were implemented following a meeting presided over by State Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and attended by Education Minister Kuber Dindor and senior officials.

Key Changes In GSEB Class 10 And 12 Exam Pattern

The Gujarat Class 10 and 12 exam patterns have been modified in light of the National Education Policy 2020. One of the most significant changes is a 10% increase in objective questions from 20% to 30%, while the share of descriptive questions has decreased from 30% to 20%.

Furthermore, Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) class 12 science students can appear for one or all of the supplementary exams (June-July) to improve their performance. According to the state government, the best of the two will be considered.

Students in class 10 can also appear for supplementary examinations in three subjects. Previously, there was a limit of two subjects. Similarly, students in the general stream in class 12 can appear in compartment exams for two courses rather than one.

In the GSEB Class 12 science stream, a total of 50% of the MCQs were retained. However, changes to the remaining 50 percent descriptive questions have been announced. Additionally, students will no longer be given internal choices. Instead, the question paper will provide them with alternatives and generic options.
