The Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Geographical Indications Registry in Chennai recently authorized GI tags to eight specific products. Three are from Arunachal Pradesh, one is from Tamil Nadu, two are from Jammu & Kashmir, one is from Odisha, and one is from Goa.

Arunachal Pradesh has obtained Geographical Indication (GI) tag for three products: Khamti rice, Tawang Yak Churpi, and Tangsa fabric.
Yak Churpi is a dairy product derived from the indigenous Arunachali yak breed that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Research Center on Yak (ICAR-NRC on Yak) applied for GI recognition in December 2021.
Khamti rice is a glutinous rice species grown in Arunachal Pradesh's Namsai area.
Tangsa textile products from the Tangsa tribe in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district are noted for their unique designs and vibrant hues.
NABARD and Vocal for Local campaign support
As part of the State Government's "Vocal for Local" campaign, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) actively promoted the registration of indigenous products from the region for Geographical Indication (GI).
Tamil Nadu to Udangudi Panangkarupatti
Udanagudi Panangkarupatti is a type of palm jaggery from Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli district, which is recognized for its traditional production method.
This palm jaggery has gained international acclaim and is now sold to nations such as Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Jammu and Kashmir Basohli Pashmina and Udhampur Kaladi
Basohli Pashmina: A traditional handcrafted pashmina craft from Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, Basohli Pashmina acquired the GI label for its remarkable softness and feather-like weight.
Kaladi: A traditional Dogra dish that originated in Ramnagar, Udhampur district.
Kendrapara, Odisha's Sweet Dish 'Rasabali'
Rasabali: This delectable delicacy is named after the 262-year-old Baladevyu temple in Ichchapur, on the outskirts of Kendrapada town.
Deep-fried flat red-brown paneer patties are soaked in rich, sweetened milk.
Rasabali has historical significance and is one of the 56 offerings presented at the Puri Srimandir to Lord Jagannath and his celestial siblings.
Cashew from Goa
Goa Cashew, with its distinct flavor and individuality, has been designated as a GI in accordance with the Swayampurna Goa Mission for Self-Sufficiency.
It is Goa's tenth GI-awarded product, following Harmal Chilli, Khola Chilli, Mindoli Banana, Agasam Brinjal, Sat Shiro Bhendo, Kaju Feni, Goa Khaje, Mancurad Mango, and Goa Bebinka.
