The Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, which is in charge of lighthouses around the country, has launched a great plan to turn 75 lighthouses into booming tourism sites. This ambitious initiative is part of the Lighthouse Heritage Tourism Plan, and it coincides with the inaugural Lighthouse Festival of India, which will be held in Goa from September 23 to 25.
Promoting Lighthouse Heritage Tourism
The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model will be used to renovate these structures in the style of their American and European counterparts in order to promote lighthouse heritage tourism.
A Gathering of History Fans
The festival will bring together people with a love of history and culture for three days. Participants will include historians, archaeologists, cultural anthropologists, and others.
Investment and Tourism Attraction
This festival is being referred to as a roadshow to entice financiers to fund the development of these lighthouses and draw tourists to these distinctive hubs. The ministry will present its plan for lighthouse heritage tourism and investment opportunities across the first 75 lighthouses during the event.
Interest of the Private Sector
Senior government officials from the Centre will hold private meetings to discuss investment opportunities, while the event is anticipated to attract investors from the private sector.
Numerous Tourist Destinations
The festival offers captivating light and sound shows, classical music performances, culinary delights galore, and cultural exhibitions highlighting maritime history and culture for tourists.
A Part of the "Bharat Pravah" Initiative
The Lighthouse Festival is an important part of the "Bharat Pravah" initiative, which aims to emphasize the profound significance of rivers, ports, and shipping in India's daily life, especially in terms of culture and history.
