About SIMBEX 23
The Indian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) conduct an annual bilateral naval exercise.
It has been going on since 1994.
It has the distinction of being the longest continuous naval exercise conducted by the Indian Navy with any other country.
SIMBEX-2023 is divided into two phases: a harbour phase in Singapore from September 21 to 24, 2023, and a sea phase.
In addition to Ranvijay, Kavaratti, and Sindhukesari, Long-Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft P8I is taking part in the exercise.
During the Harbour Phase, the two navies will engage in a variety of professional exchanges, cross-deck visits, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE), and sporting events targeted at improving interoperability and mutual understanding.
SIMBEX 23's Sea Phase will include advanced air defense exercises, gunnery firings, tactical maneuvers, anti-submarine exercises, and other maritime activities.
Units from both navies will work to improve their warfighting capabilities while solidifying their ability to conduct multi-discipline operations in the maritime area.
