The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) is collaborating with GITAA, an IIT Madras-incubated startup, to provide a cricket analytics course titled 'Howzzat - Cricstats? Exploring the World of Cricket Analytics' to aspiring sports data analysts and sports aficionados.
This course is available online and has an eight-week duration. Students who are interested in applying can do so on the official website.
The program fees is Rupees 10,000 plus GST. This program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Professionals in the industry with a passion for sports are also encouraged to apply.
This collaboration is being formed with the intention of assisting participants in exploring the topic of sports data analytics through real-world case studies. The institutes will bring in industry professionals to give their perspectives on how analytics has changed sports, as well as prominent academicians to help students comprehend the principles of data science.
The course was created by data science academics from IIT Madras and aims to provide aspiring sports data analysts and students with the skills to analyze large amounts of data related to various aspects of the sport in order to gain insights, make informed decisions, and improve team and player performance.
