Early Life
Major Dhyan Chand was born on August 29, 1905, into a Rajput family. Dhyan Chand's exposure to hockey began with his father, Sameshwar Singh, who served in the British Indian Army. Dhyan Chand dropped out of school after six years due to the family's many relocations as a result of his father's transfers. He joined the Army after settling in Jhansi.
