The UGC has directed educational institutions to observe National Sports Week from August 21 to August 29

Description

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged all higher education institutions (HEIs) to celebrate 'National Sports Day' starting today, August 21, and continuing until August 29. The theme for this year's festivities revolves around - "Sports as an enabler for an inclusive and fit society."

UGC has issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the National Sports Day (NSD) celebrations in 2023. According to the SOP, HEIs must organize athletics, contemporary sports, and indigenous sports on their campuses based on age group. It is recommended that the personnel dress in sports wear for the sports day.

The commission has requested that colleges and universities upload video and images of activities held during National Sports Day Week to the university Activity Monitoring Portal (AMP). According to the UGC, each organization will be divided into two, four, or six teams based on the number of participants, with both males and girls competing. Check out this game list-

IITs To Conduct Sports Activities

In its notice, the UGC secretary informed all directors of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), Indian Institutes of Science (IISCs), Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs), and vice-chancellors of all central universities to conduct various sports activities to encourage participation in sports and fitness activities. According to the UGC, each organization will be divided into two, four, or six teams based on the number of participants, with both males and girls competing.
