Professor Faizan Mustafa of Aligarh Muslim University's law faculty was appointed vice chancellor of the Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) in Patna on July 18.
According to Professor SP Singh, social sciences dean and facilitator of the search committee, the appointment was made on the suggestion of the search committee, which was led by former Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
Professor Mustafa returned to AMU last year after serving as vice-chancellor of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR). He formerly served as the first vice chancellor of the National Law University of Odisha. He was also the dean and registrar at AMU.
Mustafa has received both a Commonwealth Scholarship and a Fulbright Fellowship. He received the SAARC's 'Best Law Teacher Award' in 2014 and has lectured in nearly 32 countries around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, China, Germany, Israel, and others. He also runs a YouTube channel, Legal Awareness WebSeries, which has over 700,000 subscribers.
Mridula Mishra, vice chancellor of the CNLU, welcomed Professor Mustafa on his appointment as vice chancellor of the institution founded in 2006.
