During the UK-India Week celebrations, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, gave the renowned Points of Light award to veteran soldier Rajindar Singh Dhatt.

Dhatt was born in pre-Partition India in 1921 and now lives in Hounslow, southwest London. During WWII, he joined the British Indian Army, displaying his commitment to serving his country. Dhatt ascended the ranks and was appointed Havildar Major (Sergeant Major) in 1943 as a result of his dedication and hard work.
Fighting For Liberty
Dhatt's valorous acts brought him to the Kohima battleground in northeast India. He fought alongside the Allies, valiantly assisting them in their effort to breach the Japanese defenses. Dhatt's contributions during this difficult time were critical to the war effort.

Dhatt returned to India after the war before settling in London with his family.
