Description

The Indian Army recently signed a contract with Bengaluru-based Astrome Tech Pvt Ltd to purchase an indigenously developed "tactical LAN radio." This cutting-edge high-bandwidth backhaul wireless radio equipment is designed to provide the armed forces with reliable communication. Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, Vice Chief of Army Staff, attended the contract signing ceremony in New Delhi.

This Bengaluru-based firm has proven its expertise in developing indigenous defense equipment. The collaboration between the Indian Army and Astrome Tech Pvt Ltd is critical in advancing indigenous defense capabilities.

Framework For iDEX

The procurement of the "tactical LAN radio" is part of the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) program. iDEX, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched in April 2018, aims to promote innovation and technological development in the defense and aerospace sectors.

Reliable Communication

The primary goal of the "tactical LAN radio" is to provide the Indian Army with reliable communication. Its cutting-edge features provide an expanded range of communication, ensuring seamless connectivity in critical situations. This advancement will be critical in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of military operations.

The "tactical LAN radio" includes a number of cutting-edge features. One such feature is its embedded frequency hopping mechanism, which aids in the prevention of interception and the establishment of secure communication channels. The system also has enhanced security features that prioritize data confidentiality and integrity. Furthermore, the "tactical LAN radio" can run nonstop for 48 hours on a single set, ensuring continuous communication during extended operations.
