The Yellow Star is the Republic of Suriname's most prestigious state decoration. It is a prestigious honor given to persons who have made outstanding contributions to the people or nation of Suriname. President Draupadi Murmu recently became the first Indian to be awarded the Grand Order of the Chain of Yellow Star.

Grand Master Of The Order
Suriname's President carries the honorary title of Grand Master of the Honorary Order of the Yellow Star. As the top authority, the President monitors the awarding procedure and upholds the order's principles.
Medals And Classes
The Order is divided into five categories and two medals. Grand Cordon (Grotlint), Grand Officer (GrottoOfficier), Commander (Commander), Officer (Officier), and Knight (Rider) are the several classes. In addition, the order bestows honorary medals in gold and silver in appreciation of outstanding individuals.
